Pioneers International’s strategic objectives are twofold:

To enhance policy maker’s understanding of the complexities, systemic linkages, and transboundary impacts that are associated with environmentally and socially unsustainable natural resource use practices, their implications, and providing guidance to explore approaches that can address these issues in areas with significant or mounting natural resource constraints, particularly land, water and energy constraints.

To strengthen people’s ability to initiate beneficial change in their lives and within their communities by fostering creativity, building new capacities, identifying opportunities, designing and developing innovative sustainable approaches and solutions for dealing with critical challenges and adapting to environmental and climatic stress, and improving livelihood resilience.

Pioneers International strives to mainstream cross-cutting themes of climate-adaptation and gender-based equality throughout its work.
